The Comparative Study Between Obstructive Type and Non-obstructive Type of Colon Cnacer

Abstract

|
From Jan, 1985 to Dec. 1990. 156 patients with colorectal carcinoma were admitted to Chosun University Hospital. With exclusion of the lost patients, the 82 patients were collected. The Author divided these patients to obstructing type and
non-obstructing type and compared the two groups.
@ES The results are as follows:
@EN 1) In total 82 cases, non-obstructing type(52 cases) in more prevalent than obstructing type(30 cases).
2) The rectum is the most frequent location in the both types.
3) Non-obstructing type has a higher resectability(94.2% : 50%).
4) Obstructing type has a higher operative mortality(10.0% : 5.8%).
5) In stage of carcinoma, obstructing cases have no Modified Duke's A and high proportion of Duke's C & D.
6) Obstructing type has lower survival rate at 2 yrs after operation than non-obstructing type.
